This course introduces theoretical approaches to cultural issues in connection with colonial and postcolonial experiences. We will analyze issues of identity, culture, history, race and gender, as they are shaped by the history of colonial oppression. We will read key texts by thinkers and writers who attempt to describe and account for these experiences.
