Emily FRIIS-HANSEN

Emily Friis-Hansen is a first-year PhD student. She completed her BA in International Relations at the University of St Andrews and holds a MSc in China in Comparative Perspective from the LSE. Emily’s research interests lie in finding new ways to conceptualize affect, the city, and everyday life. Her current research examines the affective and narrative potential of Hong Kong urbanity to fix place, history, and people within social memory. Before coming to HKU, Emily worked for a London political communications firm, and recently finished a year of Chinese study (and ample culinary research) in Taiwan.
