In this course, students will be required to take (a) a team-taught course on major problems of cultural analysis or (b) one of the designated undergraduate courses in the department or (c) one of the M.A. courses in the department. If course (a) is offered, all new graduate students are required to take it. In all the above three cases, instead of examinations, students are expected to develop their own ideas by working through a set of selected readings at the postgraduate level and to write a long term paper (of about 5-6,000 words).
