CLIT7802 Creative Cultural Practice: Experiential Learning in Museum and Literary Festival
25/26 Academic Year
Overview of the features and design of the course:
The course aims to integrate the critical study of literary art with your own experience and understanding of the books assigned. It takes the form of a bookclub in a private library in town. Six sessions will last for 1.5 hour on one Saturday each month from September to November 2025, and January to March 2026. You are expected to share your insights and observations after reading the novella assigned for each of the four sessions. There will be two sessions at which the group will interview two local authors who are also active in other areas of arts, such as drama and photography.
Events or assignment to be covered:
You are required to submit a reflective journal of about 500 words after each session. The instructor will read and comment on the journals. Distinguished ones will be selected and placed on the website. For the interviews, you are required to work with other members to prepare the background and questions to be asked, and compile a short report shortly after.
Expectations/ any special requirements that incoming freshmen should be aware of:
You have to be a book lover and be ready to actively participate in sharing your views and experiences in class. The class quota is limited to 20.
