Introduction
Scientific fiction takes a significant role of Asian American literature as it deconstructs the conventional writing and provides an innovative window for readers to reacquaint Asian American from different perspectives. This dissertation aims at observing how Asian American’s familial narration is conveyed through scientific imaginary, specifically the matter of time in both novels: Charles Yu’s How to Live Safely in a Science Fictional Universe: A Novel, and Ling Ma’s Severance (SFU).

Experience at MALCS
Learning at MALCS is a memorable experience. MALCS teaches me to be a scholar who does not have to be perfect in everything. Literature and cultural learning is a lifetime thing, one must be well-prepared to embrace solitude, imperfect and failures during this journey. Courses I have taken are not simply aiming at knowledge comprehension, but also paving my way to figure out my research interests. Thank you MALCS, you keep my tilted head up and gift me courage to concur different weathers in my future.
