Biography
I am a locally bred and born Literature in English teacher and a film enthusiast.
‘Think, rethink, de-think, and unthink.’ My academic journey began at the University of Hong Kong, where I pursued a Bachelor’s degree in Arts and Education, followed by a Master’s degree in Literary and Cultural Studies. These experiences taught me to dissect texts, challenge assumptions, and explore the intricate connections between literature and culture.
Reading has been the compass of my vicissitudes of life, perpetually orienting and re-orienting my perspective. Through literature, I have traversed diverse narratives and ventured into worlds after worlds, each time unearthing new and profound insights. This transformative power of reading — a dialogue between the self and the text — is what I strive to instill in the future generation: to interrogate the seen and unseen, and to embrace the ever-shifting lens through which we perceive ourselves and the intricacy of the world.
The dynamic panel discussions and debates created an arena for lively engagement with ideas, where theory and practice converged in the most stimulating, if not revelatory ways.
Experience at MALCS
My experience at MALCS has been nothing short of transformative, even amidst the challenges wrought by the COVID-19 barrage, which compelled us to shift to online learning. Despite these unforeseen disruptions, I am more than grateful for the wealth of knowledge I gained through this course. The lectures unfolded the beauty, fluidity, and play of language at its best, while the teachers’ professionalism truly commendable. The dynamic panel discussions and debates created an arena for lively engagement with ideas, where theory and practice converged in the most stimulating, if not revelatory ways. I owe a debt of gratitude to Dr. Winnie Yee, whose mentorship was a beacon amidst gloom and doom. Her insightful guidance, coupled with her contagious enthusiasm, not only deepened my understanding of literary and cultural studies but also inspired a deeper, more critical approach to the texts I now teach.
