Unveil my eyes and let me see beyond my own sight
Tibet, a dazzling place I never knew
And yet, it became an unexpected travel destination
It opened my eyes to a whole new world
Filled with unbelievable sights
Indescribable feelings
Countless hours on the road
singing along to our Tibetan driver’s song list through his car stereo
ranging from Taylor Swift to Beyond
oh what interesting tastes he has despite the language barrier
really not what I had in mind but no complains
Listening to his sharing on Tibet with my broken Mandarin
slowly, I got to piece the puzzles of this wonderful place, history, people and its culture
Passing by the Himalayas
endless mountains
surrounded by all shades of grey, brown and green
Fields of sheep and yaks with nomads
just like a painting
oh how peaceful and serene
In deep awe of the creation of this geographical landscape
Passing by small villages
the children and their bright smiles
they greet foreigners with a “hello”
regardless of their skin color
oh how well-mannered and heart-warming
even rolling an old car wheel down a hill
is a fun game to them
Sometimes happiness can be as simple as that
the friendliness and warmth of the locals
also present everywhere
Inside the hostels, the restaurants
The worn down traditional teahouses
filled with locals in traditional clothes
sipping on their hot sweet tea
while chatting with one another
oh how authentic the atmosphere feels
Spending the night on Mount Everest’s base camp
the closest I’ve ever been to the night sky
it felt surreal, did I just stepped into a movie set?
Or am I just dreaming?
oh how the stars and cosmos harmonizes perfectly with mystery
oh how I wish I could just hit the rewind button again…
