CLIT2100 Fugitive Science

Fall 2021 | 6 credits | Dr. Laura MEEK

This course is about facts and fakes, authenticity and manipulation. We will focus on contemporary issues like doping in sports, racial inequalities in health, and environmental justice movements, as we consider how social, cultural, and political factors shape the production and circulation of facts. Our core questions will be: What is a fake? What is a fact? Who gets to decide—scientists, publics, governments, industries, activists? And, what happens when they disagree?
