CLIT1008: Ways of Reading: Film, Literature, and Culture (Spring 2022)

Spring 2022| 6 Credits| Dr. Beth Harper

This course will offer a number of ways of interrogating the fundamental questions of the discipline: what is literature, how is it produced, how can it be understood and what is its purpose? What do we understand by theory, and how do we define the praxis of Comparative Literature? The course will provide a survey of the major themes and strands in modern literary theory as well as an introduction to the scope and possibilities of Comparative Literature as a risky, experimental field.
